Description: When I was working on this piece, I was focusing on the police car in the background and decided to make it about an officer. Of course, I have no idea who the real person was, so the image is more of an allegory than an attempt to tell an individual story. The artwork represents different worlds, layers, aspects of the city. Some are familiar to all, and some – to only a few. The allegorical officer faces challenges for which he/she may not have been fully prepared. The trauma affects the person’s functioning, but as long as he/she does not deny it and address the damaging effect, the ability to serve and protect remains unchanged. I presume, I chose to feature a cop since a patrol car was in the picture, but the message could apply to anyone who went through traumatic experiences.
