Description: Back in 2012, my family and I took a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona. When we were on our way out of a national park, I decided to stop and take a picture of the Kachina Peaks, which the local natives, Hopi, consider sacred. I’ve been attempting to describe this photograph for a few days. Nothing sensible came to mind. Eventually, I wrote this description. When I look at the image, I have the same feeling as when I view the photos of people who died hundreds of years ago – a sensation of universal silence – silence existing beyond our living minds. I have a strange feeling of someone gazing at me from the picture – the guardians and judges of the land. I wonder how many viewers gain the same impression from this photograph?
