Description: Back in 2013, these yellow and purple blossoms took over a huge flower bed in Rockford’s rose garden. I liked the contrast of colors, which was one of the reasons why I took a photograph. The second reason: the flowers evoked a pleasant childhood memory. The town I grew up in had numerous flower beds. A few of them had flowers like the yellow ones from the image. The beds were located near a large grocery store. Every time I went shopping with my mom during the summer we passed them. The bright colors attracted my attention. I remember wishing for the whole town to be filled with colorful blossoms. This photo – the combination of yellow, red-purple and green awakens optimism and hope. Even though it seems, by adding the black frame I turned those positive emotions into memories: the optimism and hope from the past and how they teach us to stay positive in the present.
